Subterranean

Inspired by the plentiful wilderness of the Pacific Northwest intertwined with the intricate network of underground passages that meander beneath the vibrant city of Seattle, "Subterranean" invites you to delve into a concealed universe brimming with life and activity beyond the surface.

Through a kaleidoscope of colors, "Subterranean" was a fully immersive bar experience hidden underneath an art gallery. Layers of light, hand-cut textilene fabric, and paint create an environment that flips the script of what viewers expect as they descend into the basement of the old Coliseum Theatre.

  • Immersive lighting design worked its way throughout the installation creating unique moods and scenes.

  • After researching a material that not only caught light but also we robust enough to last we find Textilene. A material used for outdoor furniture and is essentially indestructible.

  • After painting the space each of the linear slats was hang cut to create an organic, underground passageway for viewers to follow on their way to the bar.
