Experience Research Lab (ERL) is an art and design research duo with backgrounds as visual artists and designers. Our combined expertise allows us to create works and experiences that tell stories in unexpected and distinctive ways. The Lab is collaborative, and our team approach never seems to develop the expected or even the same idea twice.

The Lab’s purpose is simple — Combine focused research with playful experimentation to continually question how art and design can create unforgettable experiences.

View fullsize The Fremont Bridge in Seattle has been operating for over 100 years! Our lighting design reflects seasonal, solar, and lunar patterns which effect and expose the engineering and craftsmanship of this Seattle landmark.
View fullsize Influenced by the aerospace industry and common neon/argon lights this project “when lightning strikes” exposes the inside of a formerly squatted house. This was installed as part of Seattle Demo Project 09.
View fullsize Often our work either incorporates or uses light as a medium. The landscape project creates an implied man-made sunrise using projection. These photographs explore how human and natural worlds can intersect. Photographs for sale, DM for details.
